Ahead of Davos, NatureFinance is keenly focused on advancing discussions about a future in a world beyond 1.5 degrees. In a recent publication, “Time to Plan for a Future Beyond 1.5 Degrees,” NatureFinance underscored the urgency of taking bold and practical action to meet the magnitude of the nature and climate crises. At COP28, NatureFinance held events and collaborated with businesses and lawmakers to comprehend the ramifications of this critical shift. NatureFinance is dedicated to driving meaningful dialogue and looks forward to hosting an event in collaboration with InTent during Davos on this topic as well as engaging with a number of other events to encourage broader engagement with this crucial issue. NatureFinance Event: Planning For A Future Beyond 1.5°C

The World Meteorological Organisation estimates that there is a 66% chance of global temperatures breaching the crucial 1.5°C threshold for at least a year, potentially as early as 2026. Working with businesses and legislators at COP28, NatureFinance highlighted the need to double down on minimising the rise in global temperatures, and simultaneously initiate unconventional measures to unlock radical innovation in the face of a world beyond 1.5°C.
Through this lunch event, NatureFinance invites participants to think beyond 1.5°C and consider key questions including (but not restricted to):
- Are existing business models, investment portfolios, and policies resilient in a post-1.5°C world?
- Where are the greatest points of vulnerability, and what are the barriers to radical change?
- How can actions and solutions developed for a post-1.5°C world prioritize and promote equity?

With the health of Earth ecosystems at their lowest in human history, systemic risks to business and the economy are increasing, emphasising the urgent need to halt and reverse biodiversity loss globally. Yet nature is still undervalued and a substantial finance gap remains. Biodiversity credits are gaining momentum as one of the instruments that can help mobilize capital for biodiversity conservation and restoration.
